EMDR TRAUMA RESOLUTION
During our time in therapy, it might be appropriate to work on past trauma. I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) which is an evidenced-based and very effective method for moving beyond the impacts of trauma. Trauma often gets “stuck” in one side of the brain causing numerous post-traumatic symptoms. EMDR helps individuals to process memories (images, sensations, and feelings) more fully by stimulating both sides of the body (through eye movements, holding pulsing tappers, or tapping on your own legs). This allows the brain to reprocess the trauma in a more adaptive way, reducing or eliminating negative symptoms related to the traumatic event(s).
NATURE GUIDING
I offer nature-connected guiding or “ecotherapy” to those who this appeals to. For nature guiding, we meet at an outdoor location around the Viroqua area for our session. Yes, just being in nature is so therapeutic. With nature guiding, I will also bring your attention to how nature is a mirror, reflecting your inner world back to you through metaphor and messages. We will utilize the natural world as a co-facilitator in the therapy process. This may look like practicing a regular sit spot (building relationship with place), an intentional healing walk to gain clarity, or a rite of passage ceremony that marks a transition for you.
